Our Direction for the Future

Foundation Update

Moses Taylor Foundation has officially closed out our 2019-2023 Strategic Plan and set our direction for the future. Beginning last fall, our team spent time reflecting on and learning from the past five years of successes, course corrections, and insights. These outcomes are summarized into a brief 2019-2023 Strategic Plan Executive Summary.

During and after the internal review, our board and team assessed the Foundation’s existing priorities, analyzed external data, and considered feedback from community partners in determining our path forward. Through this process, we reaffirmed our core mission of improving the health of people in Northeastern Pennsylvania and our desire to continue working in the established 11-county region with a primary commitment to Lackawanna and the immediately surrounding counties.

Changes and Expansions to Funding

Rolling Grants

Rolling Grants are available for projects less than $40,000 and can be accessed at any time throughout the year.

Open Cycle Grants

Open Cycle Grants are for larger projects, some of which may be considered for up to three years of funding. These grants have specific deadlines during the 2024-2025 fiscal year: October 7, 2024; March 31, 2025; and June 23, 2025.

Request for Proposals

Request for Proposals is an additional cycle that will be focused on a specific health-related topic. More information on the scope and process will be released in the fall with an anticipated application deadline in January 2025.

Regardless of the grant type, the process always begins with a conversation between the nonprofit organization and a Foundation Program Officer.

In the coming weeks, we will update our website to reflect these changes and provide more comprehensive information. Meanwhile, if you have any questions or want to discuss our updated strategic direction in more detail, please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to working together as we strive to provide opportunities for people in Northeastern Pennsylvania to lead healthy lives.
